What is the cutest and most charming guidebook in the world? That’s no more than a 4x6 frame?! It’s the vintage The Blue Book of Birds of America gifted to me by my ex-girlfriend and still bird nerd partner (yes, I am still friends with my ex, such is the life of this queer enby). The book is full of all sorts of birds, but I gravitated to the birds that I saw with her first.
Our birding adventures have led me to adding Black-headed Grosbeaks, Pine Siskins, and Lazuli Buntings to my bird life list. Wanted to capture the awe I experienced witnessing such amazing creatures while by her side. If you look closely, you can read the descriptions of the birds in their television backgrounds. And you can admire, like I did, the blue bird wallpaper that’s straight out of the guidebook. Creating this for my fellow bird nerd meant so much to me, and I hope it brings others just as much delight…and maybe even encourage you to grab a pair of binoculars and witness these birds in the wild for yourself.
Perfect gift for your inner or fellow bird nerd. You know, the one who shushes everyone so they can use their Merlin app while eating outside at brunch.
This is a handcrafted paper collage from Blue Book of Birds of America and magazines like LIFE, National Geographic, etc.
You're purchasing a 5×7 png digital download file. No physical item will be shipped to you and the frame is not included.
